Ann Coulter has the tact of a demented boar

Cross-posted from Smokin' News:
Ann Coulter is such a hideous caricature of American conservatives that I'm beginning to wonder if she's not some sort of radical left-wing mole planted within the movement to bring it down by wholesale discreditation. Witness this latest bon mot I culled from her current column, titled "Muslim bites Dog":
But stylistic quibbles aside (and Ms. Coulter can be forgiven for playing fast and loose with the English language now and again), and ignoring her ringing of the war gong for bombs over Syria, Coulter uses language that demonizes all Muslims:
It isn't all of them, in fact. Muhammad Ali (and a bunch of friends) just opened the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, which is devoted basically to diplomacy and crisis mediation, at least according to its founders. Before I hear any rabid conservatives eager to disparage the former Cassius Clay as a "draft dodger," let me pre-empt them by saying that they're full of shit. Ali declined to go to Vietnam, saying he was a conscientious objecter. He didn't run away to Canada, he stayed in the U.S. and suffered the consequences of a moral decision he made.
As much as I loathe the fact that the cultural problems that have provided breeding grounds for the "Cartoon Riots" have been largely ignored, I'm unwilling to make the kinds of sweeping, racist generalizations that Coulter is so eager to scribble:
Lest anyone think I'm letting radical Islam off the hook, here's the story I did for Scrawled this month:
Election of Hamas should serve as a cautionary tale to the West's efforts to democratize the Middle East.

Perhaps we could put aside our national, ongoing, post-9/11 Muslim butt-kissing contest and get on with the business at hand: Bombing Syria back to the stone age and then permanently disarming Iran.Ha, ha! Funny joke, right? Sure, Syria's a bad place full of bad people. But nobody could seriously be thinking that we should extend our military operations there right now, right? Ann Coulter is not joking:
I believe we are legally required to be bombing Syria right now. And unlike the Quran's alleged prohibition on depictions of Muhammad, I've got documentation to back that up!Okay, this is a column she's apparently published, and in one sentence, she not only begins with the word "And," but finishes with an exclamation point. Apparently she's not aiming to be running in the same league as the Bronte sisters.
But stylistic quibbles aside (and Ms. Coulter can be forgiven for playing fast and loose with the English language now and again), and ignoring her ringing of the war gong for bombs over Syria, Coulter uses language that demonizes all Muslims:
The "offense to Islam" ruse is merely an excuse for Muslims to revert to their default mode: rioting and setting things on fire. These people have a serious anger management problem.Ann, if you want us to take you seriously, you're going to have to put a finer point on that oh-so-sharp pen of yours. I'm sure she's keen to piss off the folks who have so clearly demonstrated their displeasure over the publication of the Infamous Danish Cartoons, but come on. Cat Stevens wrote "Peace Train." It can't be all of them.
As much as I loathe the fact that the cultural problems that have provided breeding grounds for the "Cartoon Riots" have been largely ignored, I'm unwilling to make the kinds of sweeping, racist generalizations that Coulter is so eager to scribble:
If you don't want to get shot by the police, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, then don't point a toy gun at them. Or, as I believe our motto should be after 9/11: Jihad monkey talks tough; jihad monkey takes the consequences. Sorry, I realize that's offensive. How about "camel jockey"? What? Now what'd I say? Boy, you tent merchants sure are touchy. Grow up, would you? [Emphasis mine]Sadly, the less the rest of the world looks like Coulter -- blonde-haired and lily-white -- the more willing she is to bomb them into oblivion. If she's so eager to kill Muslims, I'd suggest she take a walk down to the recruiter's office. They've got plenty of opportunities left.
Lest anyone think I'm letting radical Islam off the hook, here's the story I did for Scrawled this month:
Election of Hamas should serve as a cautionary tale to the West's efforts to democratize the Middle East.

Excellent post, man. That wacky Ann. I'm convinced she's had a sex change to look like that. Her balls are HUGE. And to think Bill Maher fucked that psycho.

i like your pre-emptive strike. i've never been convinced that coulter takes herself seriously; however, one gets the feeling that there's plenty of young cubicles more than willing to convince her of anything.
excellent post, bro.

I've never even read a column by Ann C., which is an embarassment by a self-proclaimed conservative like myself. She's too skinny. And, if she is so unnecessarily insulting of others, then she loses my respect. No need to call people names, especially when we have soldiers in their midst.

Ian,
We have a lot of differences. I despise authority in general and any authority over me in particular. I would never submit to the gross servitude of the US army. I'd spend all my time in the stockade I am sure.
You would think that as one labelled "liberal" that I might be pleased with this particular offering of yours. Not so.
Let it be known that despite many differences I have always liked your thinking. Until now. I realize that in context you are indicating that like liberal types (to you) Ann Coulter here is making no sense. What you have failed to realize is that she never has. Drunk on her own celebrity she has become a mindless mouthpiece bent on the zero's in her bank account.
When you muse that she is a "radical left-wing mole planted within the movement to bring it down by wholesale discreditation." you lose me.
Although this is a blog and you are not held by journalistic standards here I am surprised by your lack of them. You go on to quote the bloodthirsty bitch with statements that would never be attributed to us "moonbats" about escalating warfare on a global basis. I guess thats the "not making sense" part.
Anyway, you show your own bias in a spectacular fashion by that one comment. You have made the debate between "us" and "them". That battle is old, what is not is the sophistry that you use to disparage one of your own. Please prove me wrong: show me where any of your (US of A's)Democratic Party's members could be mistaken for issuing the utter crap coming out of Coulter's mouth/pen/word processor.
If you want to place responsibility for idiocy in print you might want to place it where it belongs. In this case, its your own chosen camp. Maybe you might want to take a closer look at the folks you support and, more importantly, what they stand for. If not, try changing the name from "smokin' news" to "shill for the gop".

I don't think you understood what I meant. When I wrote "Ann Coulter is such a hideous caricature of American conservatives that I'm beginning to wonder if she's not some sort of radical left-wing mole planted within the movement to bring it down by wholesale discreditation," I did not mean to actually imply that she's an agent-provocateur... just that I find it incredible that anyone could take her seriously. The statement was sarcastic, D.
I have no idea how you managed to pull from this column the idea that I'm a "shill for the GOP," but I suggest you re-read the blog. What journalism standards am I supposed to be held to in a opinionated criticism of some conservative skank?
I haven't been posting here much, and if you'd like a better picture of where my politics lie, please visit my other blog. I think you'll be surprised -- you seem to think I'm a rabid conservative. I don't blame you, since I used to be. But I'm not any more.

Good Point ... :)
Hmmm, no that I am sober I like your article better. I'll check out the new place.
Peace out.
